Brodyn hits the big 2!

Wow! I can't even believe I am doing a post about our baby boy turning 2! It is so crazy to me how fast time is going! Wasn't I just pregnant? Wasn't I just rocking him to sleep??

Wasn't this picture taken last week??
(ps. I was puffy..im aware of it.)
Wasn't I just experiencing that it is possible to have an insane amount of love for not 1 child, but two??

On September 12 Brodyn turned 2 years old. Seems ages ago he even turned 1. You know, now Brodyn has lived 50% of his life in BC. He is more native to the province than any of us.

Well we partied it up! On Sunday we had planned to do the whole family birthday thing. We didn't really plan it soon enough so the only family that could make it were my mom and step-dad. But we loved having them and it was such a nice day! We had a BBQ, we visited and opened presents...and then....went on a tour of the mines. The COOL mines, Ford River :)

We were all SO dirty by the end. I felt horrible for my mom, who wore a white shirt up there! Guess we shouldn't have sprang that on them last minute. Good news was they loved it! My mom went around telling everyone how she got to see where her son worked on top of the world :)

Brodyn was spoiled with presents! Even though Gramma and Grampa Merrill couldn't make it, they still got him a sweet gift. It is an airplane, and Brodyn loves it!

On Monday, his actual birthday, we had our friends come over with their kidlets for a BBQ. Nothing fancy, the kids just ran around but they all had a great time!

This is Brodyns Choo-Choo cake that I made. Real fancy, I know. I would get into it professionally...but I want to save my talent for my kids ;) The good news is it tasted great! I used this chocolate cake receipe from a book that I got for my birthday and it was tasty!

Yup, this is our daughter in a nutshell.

 Present time!!

And of course, he ended the night with a kiss :)

On an additional note, these were the favors that Karson and I made for the kids. Nothing fancy or as cool as a grab bag but I thought they were super cute and went with the theme of Brodyns favorite thing...trains :)

So all in all it was a great birthday for the little man. Somedays I still find myself in disbelief that I have two amazing kids, but it has taught me so much. Everyday Brodyn gives me reasons to laugh, smile and be thankful. I just love him so much and before you have 2 kids you often wonder how on earth you would be able to love any other children as much as you love you first. But the thing is...you just do. I can't explain how but the amount I love this little guy is insane.
Happy 2nd birthday Brodyn, mommy loves you 'til the end.
